The Story

A Run and Then Some

Deerfield-Windsor School’s Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) and Mission Change are teaming up this winter to host their 2nd annual 1 mile, 5k and 10K run raising money to help feed the under-served children and homeless community in Albany. The idea for the run was first presented in 2014 by an FCA student who had been involved in helping the homeless during the holiday season. Southwest Georgia reports the highest percentages of food insecurity in a state that is already among the most impoverished in the nation. A staggering 25,000 children in the Southwest Georgia area alone face food insecurity on a regular basis. After seeing the effects firsthand of hunger and poverty on our community, DWS FCA decided to partner with Mission Change to help those in need by encouraging and demonstrating to their students how, together, we can personally better the world through compassion and action!
