| Hope for Haiti - Promise of Hope |
It's no understatement to say that the world was emotionally shaken by the massive earthquake that hit Haiti on January 12, 2010. The catastrophic images broadcast daily on TV as well as the stories of hope and loss, death and survival, have galvanized the global community, calling to action and aid every individual and reminding us all of the humanity that binds us together.
We here at Mission:Change have been fortunate enough to have personal representatives close to the front-lines during this tragically unfortunate event. In August of 2008, Mission:Change co-founders Todd and LaDonna Urick moved to the Bahamian island of Eleuthera
Unfortunately, while volunteers and supplies are currently plentiful, money is not. The fuel costs alone of each trip from Nassau to Haiti and back runs between $1,500 and $1,800 per plane. To help avoid the scenario of planes and pilots sitting on a tarmac in Nassau without the sheer monetary means of delivering their supplies, Mission:Change, in partnership with Bahamas Methodist Habitat, is raising funds specifically for the costs associated with making these crucial humanitarian aid flights happen. 100% of the donated proceeds will go directly to fuel costs, helping our volunteer pilots distribute much needed medical and food supplies to the areas of greatest need in Haiti. And because Mission:Change is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, your donations are tax deductible.

Note: Being that we are starting to wrap up our initial disaster relief efforts with Bahamas Methodist Habitat, we have removed our donation links. Heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to and supported our efforts. Check back soon to find out just how much your love and support aided those in the greatest of need. Mark Grimaldi, a local pilot sponsored by your generous donations, was briefly featured in a CNN news piece as he delivered much needed supplies to Île de la Gonâve, Haiti's "Forgotten Island." Such reflief efforts would not be possible without your help. Thank you. |
