A Place 4 Hope - a homeless outreach and resource center - celebrated their grand opening on November 17, 2010. The center provides our homeless neighbors a place to shower, wash their clothes, have access to computers and the internet, receive mail, get assistance obtaining much needed identification, and most importantly have access to resource persons whose goal is to help them become self-sufficient.

As with any new organization, volunteers are greatly needed to assist with a wide range of administrative tasks in support of A Place 4 Hope's business and client responsibilities. Duties may include interacting with clients to direct them to the resources they may be looking for, instructing clients in the use of the telephone service center which will include fax services and messaging, light clerical duties (like filing, answering telephones, typing, etc), assist staff with providing programs, encouragement and support, and to be a "friend" to those with few social contacts. As funding and resources become available, additional services and duties will be added. Office hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday through Friday.
All volunteers are required to go through a short volunteer training, the next of which will be held on Thursday, December 9th from 10:00 am until noon. There is no charge for this training, and all individuals should bring a picture ID with them. Training will be held at The Salvation Army facility located at 304 W. 2nd in Albany, GA. (Enter through the door closest to the Lily Pad office.)
