Our Monthly Mission Projects are designed to highlight various needs in the community and connect our volunteers with those specific causes and organizations striving each day to meet them.  This month's project was no exception.

"Did you know that 40% of our population here in Southwest Georgia is at risk of being food insecure at some point throughout the year?  That is equal to 200,000 people and of those 50,000 are children."

Mission Change once again joined efforts with The Food Bank of Southwest Georgia to "aggressively fight hunger".  Our incredible volunteers gave a few hours this month to prepare and package food boxes to be distributed through the "Manna Truck" program of the Food Bank.  We prepared over 700 of those boxes or over 1400 pounds of food to provide a "punch" in the fight against hunger.  We also provided teams to sort and place donated food on the shelves as well as some general cleaning of the warehouse.  A few of our guys even cleaned the ice from the ceiling of the walk-in freezers! Burrr!!!!!

I continue to be encouraged by the numbers of you who continue to give of yourselves and serve our community.  I was blown away by the number of first time participants.  Thank you for being the change that is making a positive difference in Albany and for what each of you are doing that brings all of Albany together to "Change The World From Our Backyard."
