Mission Change: Charleston began operating in January 2015 as Mission Change’s first expansion chapter. After moving to Charleston in 2013, husband and wife co-directors Hope and Rob Gresham realized the city was in desperate need of the hands-on, volunteer-based community programs that Mission Change had so successfully implemented in Albany, Hope’s hometown. True to the organization’s spirit, MC: Charleston hit the ground running in its first months with Monthly Missions that collected and distributed much needed supplies, donations and support for the One80 Place Women and Children’s Shelter, the Mount Pleasant Special Olympics, the Mount Pleasant Police Department’s mentoring program, Mother Emanual AME, and local school PTAs. Like the original southwest Georgia chapter, Mission Change: Charleston will work closely with the people and organizations in Charleston and the surrounding community, raising funds, awareness, and a devoted volunteer base dedicated to bettering the community with their own hands and hearts.
